Dr. Stoltz obtained a B.Sc. Degree from the Ontario
Agricultural College, an M.Sc. from Queen’s
University, and a Ph.D. (insect virology) from McMaster
University. Following a post-doctoral sojourn in
Texas, he joined the department in 1974, where he
has since focused his research efforts primarily
on the polydnaviruses (see below). Dr. Stoltz teaches
introductory microbiology, virology, and electron
microscopy. He is also one of two academic advisors
in the department and supervises the co-op program;
this has caused him to lose a considerable amount
of the hair visible in this 15-year-old photograph.
In his spare time, he makes valiant attempts to play
the guitar.
